Wees was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. She is currently twenty years old and has lived with benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE). The disorder caused her to have “feelings of exclusion from others, helplessness, and loss of control.”
Wees studied at the Grund- und Stadtteilschule Alter Teichweg, located in Dulsburg.

Wees started writing music in English when she was a child. She took her music seriously when she was a teenager when her teacher came up to her offering to help her prepare for a school concert. In early 2017, Wees participated in the fifth season of the music talent show The Voice Kids. She joined pop singer Sasha’s team during the Blind Auditions. In the Sing-Offs, which is the third of five phases in the competition, Wees was eliminated.
On 13th March 2020, Wees released the song “Control”. She wrote the song about anxiety and not being in control, and details about her battle with benign rolandic epilepsy. Her sim for writing the song was to say thank you to her primary school teacher who nudged her along as a young girl into becoming the woman she is today.
Wees then released “Ghost”, also part of her debut EP Golden Wings, which was released on 21st May 2021 via Capitol Records. Wees said that “Ghost” was written about “letting someone get too close even if you know they can hurt you and about being vulnerable to that person in a way that could essentially destroy your life”. The song was co-written by Ricardo Muñoz Repko, VVAVES, Nicolas Rebscher, and Patrick Salmy.
Wees currently has a total of eight singles, two of which are part of her EP album Golden Wings with platinum and gold certifications. Wees has also been featured by artists such as Tom Walker, Kygo, Moonbootica, and Felix Jaehn.

In 2020, Wees won the New Faces Awards Music (Bunte) as Newcomer. She also received the Bravo Otto Awards for Newcomer/Breakthrough. That same year, Wees won the New Music Awards for Newcomer of the Year. She received three other nominations that year.
In 2021, Wees received six award nominations including two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards.
1n 2022, she won the 1Live Krone Awards for Best Dance Song and Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for Favorite Song (DE, AT, CH). Wees had three other nominations that year.
