Sola Sobowale is a Nigerian actress. She is one of the most sought-after actresses today and has features in blockbuster movies such as King of Boys 1 & 2

Born in Ondo State, Nigeria on December 26, 1966, Sola Sobowale attended the prestigious University of Ibadan to study music, however, due to her passion for acting, she switched to Theatre Arts. Her father was a retired principal and her mother, a former headmistress. Sola Sobowale has performed on Nigerian stages for more than two decades; she is one of the best actresses in Nigerian history.

Her Educational Background

After her primary and secondary education, Sola Sobowale decided to study Music at the University of Ibadan, due to her passion for acting, she changed her mind and switched to Theatre Arts.

Sola Sobowale Early Career

Her first movie was ” Sura the tailor”, she got into the movie industry with the help of her brother-in-law, Tunji Oyelana. Tunji Oyelana was also enrolled in the same school as her. Her parents were against her acting at first but Tunji was able to talk to her parents and convinced them. This was when her career as an actress began.

Sobowale started with ” Sura the Tailor” and was later on featured in “Village Headmaster, Mirror in the Sun, Our Husband Have Gone Mad Again” and much more. She later joined an acting group led by Adebayo Salami, Awada Kerikeri Group.

Sobowale was fully known in her role as Toyin Tomato in Oh Father! Oh, Daughter!, a Wale Adenuga’s Super Story drama series. She played the role very well and to date, people still refer to her as Toyin Tomato.

Sola Sobowale left the country, she wasn’t consistent in the industry for some years. She stated that she traveled with her family to the UK so she could give her children a good education. She came in a grand style, she was ready, and ever since then, we have constantly seen her on our screen with an extraordinary performance.

Her first role after her return was the role of Tinuade Coker in the popular romantic comedy-drama, “Wedding Party”. She was a co-director in the Wedding Party” alongside Kemi Adetiba and Adesua Etomi. The movie was so popular and was filled with stars like Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Richard Mofe Damijo, AY Makun, and other popular Nigerian stars.

Her Second was in 2018, she played the role of Alhaja Eniola Salami in a political thriller film, ” King of Boys” which was co-produced and directed by Kemi Adetiba. The movie was a Blockbuster as Sobawale starred as a businesswoman, top stars like Veteran Jide Kosoko, Reminisce, Illbliss, Toni Tones, and others were also featured in the movie.

Sobowale has over 70 films both in Yoruba and English to her credit.

She has been married to and is still married to Oludotun Sobowale. Her husband, Oludotun was the previous corporate executive director of EKO Hospital, before relocating to the UK.

Their union is blessed with four children.
