EARLY LIFE.
Growing Up.
Omah Lay was born on May 19 1997. The 23-year-old artist hails from Ikwerre in Rivers state. However, he was born and brought up in Port_harcourt. Omah Lay was born into a family of Christians, although he likes to believe that he is not the religious sort. He has brothers and sisters, along with his mother.
Omah Lay was born into a family with a musical background, and this was one of the factors that inspired him to go into music. His grandfather was a band member of the famous high life singer “Celestine Ukwu”. His father also played the drums during his earlier years.
As a teenager, Omah Lay had always been fascinated with music-making. During his earlier years, he joined a rap club back in portharcourt before he dropped it to start producing songs for artists.

Omah Lay had his secondary school education at Comprehensive High School, Rivers State. He furthered by going to the University of Port_harcourt to obtain a course within the Faculty of Management Sciences.
How Omah Lay’s Career Started.
Getting into the Flow of Music wasn’t hard for Omah Lay because of his family’s musical background. His grandfather and father set a legacy for him, serving as one of his musical inspiration and encouragement sources. Omah Lay started with a rap group back in portharcourt in 2015. Back then, he was referred to as ” Lil King” and not “Omah Lay”.
Shortly after his rap saga, he moved into song production. He composed lyrics for several artists but was not given the credits and recognition he needed. In April 2019, he decided to step_up by producing his song titled ” Do not disturb”. The song earned him some credits, opening the stage for his “thriving musical career”.
Shortly after he produced the song, Omah Lay went into isolation and, when he finally resurfaced some months later, he released his first debut EP titled ” Get Layd”, a five-track album. A few months later, he released another five-track album titled “What have we done”. Since then, Omah Lay started making waves in his musical career.

It wasn’t until Omah Lay decided to leave Port_harcourt for Lagos before he started making headways in his music career. After years of rapping and songwriting, Omah Lay finally came into the limelight in April 2019 after dropping his first self produced song, “Do not disturb”. A month later, he dropped another single titled ” Hello Brother”.
In June 2019, he signed his first official record label with ” Key Qaad”. In February 2020, under Key Qaad record label, Omah Lay produced his first-ever official single titled “You”. By the end of 2020, ” You” became the most streamed song on Nigeria’s Apple Music. The song earned him over 2.9 million views on Instagram.
His first EP Album, released on May 22 2020, reached the top 15 of Nigeria’s Apple Music Chart. His second album got to the top 12 of Apple Music’s chart with his song “Godly”, bagging number one in the music chart.
On July 3 2020, he became the first Nigerian artist nominated for Apple’s Africa Rising Campaign to spotlight African Talent. Within a year of officially entering the Nigerian music industry, Omah Lay became one of the top fast-rising artists in Nigeria.
He is currently signed to Dvpper Music distribution in Nigeria and Sire Records (Warren Music group) International distribution.

One of Omah Lay’s memorable moments would always remain when his songs made it to Apple’s Music Chart for Nigeria. His single “You” remains one of the songs that brought him into the limelight as it was the most streamed on Apple Music in the year 2020.
Another memorable moment remains when he was privileged to feature in Olamide’s track titled “Infinity”, a song that once topped ” Apple Music Chart for Nigeria”.
