Ayra Starr born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, is a famous Nigerian Musician, Songwriter, and Model. The Mavin record signee is popularly known for her exceptional voice, grace, and poise. Although Ayra Starr is still a teenager, her maturity and musical knowledge are unfathomably understandable as she grew up shuttling between two nations, exposed to different cultures therefore her perspective on life is beyond that of a simple-minded person.

The singer was born June 14th, 2002 in Cotonou Republic of Bénin. She grew up spending time in both Cotonou and Lagos Nigeria. Ayra Starr was born to Nigerian parents who hail from Kwara state, North Central of the nation. She was born into a family of four, her brother Dami Aderibigbe or Milarofficial as he is popularly referred to on social media is also a singer and songwriter credited for writing some of his sister’s songs and also the popular song by Johnny Drille Mystery Girl. Her mother is also a singer.
Her family moved often due to her father’s business so she had a hard time forming close relationships with friends. As a result of being raised in a music-loving household, her interest in music was piqued and she started singing at the young age of 10. She joined her church choir and later started writing songs with her brother.
Ayra Starr lost her father in 2018, prior to her father’s death both her parents supported her choice of music and career.
Education.
Ayra Starr is an alumnus of Les Cours Sonou University in the Republic of Bénin. The schools she studied in for her primary and secondary education are unknown except for the fact that they are both in Lagos. The musician said growing up she didn’t have a lot of friends and she was constantly bullied due to her age and appearance and music was one of the ways she comforted herself in her words she said. “I would listen to Nicki Minaj on my way to school, and I’d feel like the second Nicki Minaj.”[sic]
How Ayra Starr’s Career Started.
Ayra Starr was signed by a modeling agency based in Lagos in 2018, the modeling agency is called Quove agency, later on, she modeled for other companies the likes of Esperanza Woman, Complete Fashion Magazine, and Mazelle studio. Ayra was also featured in a music video of ” Dear Future Wife” by Eri Ife.
Ayra Starr being a teenager and singer started posting her cover of songs from different musicians online. In 2019 she posted one of her songs called “Damaged” on her Instagram page, the song got the attention of thousands of people including Don Jazzy who is the owner and label executive of Mavin records where Ayra Starr is currently signed as a singer.
