Kemi kicked off her career professionally as a radio presenter at Rhythm 93.7 FM. At the radio station, she was notably the voice behind two national radio shows Soul’d out and Sunday at the Seaside which made waves at the time. She also began posting on platforms like Spotify and Soundcloud, where she posted her own music remixes anonymously under the username “hule”.
Kemi gradually transitioned from her career at the radio station to become a TV presenter for several shows on Mnet television. She presented on several notable shows such as Studio 53, Temptation Nigeria (she presented alongside ikponmwosa Osakioduwa). Because of her talented personality as a presenter, she also got a job to become a presenter on SoundCity TV and hosted Maltina Dance all for three consecutive seasons.
After she got a taste of what it feels like being in front of the camera, she enrolled at the New York Academy to improve her skill and learn the ropes about being behind the cameras. She soon set out to feature in different short films like Bloodied Ocean which was screened at the 2009 Pan African Film Festival and National Black Arts Festival.
She also got her feature film titled “The Wedding Party” on the 8 of September 2016 which premiered on the opening night of the Toronto Film Festival as the first film of the city-to-city spotlight. And after presenting the show “King Women” in 2017, she also interviewed her mother Mayen Adetiba.
Aside from being a director and directing movies, she had in the past shot a lot of music like Da Grin‘s “If I Die”, Niyola’s “Last bus stop”, TY Bello’s “The Future”, Banky w’s “Lagos Party”, Waje’s “Onye”, Wizkid’s “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, Olamide’s “Anifowese” and many more.
Kemi, being so talented and hungry to advance her career took a step further into acting making her debut in the Nigerian industry. Her acting career did not turn out as she hoped as she was rocked by personal and family issues. However, that did not stop her dreams by any means, and today Kemi is recognized as a prominent figure in the film industry.
