Growing Up
Kalu was born May 18th, 1972 in English. His family hails from Ogbunike, Oyi’s local government area of Anambra state. He relocated back to Nigeria when he was 9 years old as his parents fear he might forget his Nigerian roots if he stayed too long in England.
Education.
Kalu started his primary education in England and Zambia before he came back to Nigeria, by the time Kalu was 10 he had lived in 4 countries. He started his secondary education in Enugu State, Nigeria. He then proceeded to get his bachelor’s degree in English as his father had introduced him to Literature growing up. He graduated with honors from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1991. He did his postgraduate course at the same university but rather than the English language he studied initially he chose to study Business Management and Computer Programming.
How Kalu’s Career Started.
Kalu worked as a computer analyst prior to him joining Nollywood. His earlier acting career was stage plays, his first stage play was “Put Out The Lights” by Esiaba Ironsi. This first play was followed by many others such as Ola Rotimi’s “Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again” Esiabi Ironsi’s “Hangmen Also Die”, and many other Nigerian classic plays. He also performed in various plays in the 1995 and 1997 Edinburgh Film Festival.
His big break in showbiz happened in 2005 when he got cast for his first TV series titled “Domino”, this brought him to the limelight. Kalu’s debut movie role is David Salako in the movie “For Real” by Emem Isong. Kalu realized he couldn’t do anything else besides acting after this. Along the course of his career as an actor, Kalu became a movie producer and excellent scriptwriter.

Personal Life
Kalu Ikeagwu got married in an elaborate wedding attended by Nigerian top celebrities in 2016 to his longtime sweetheart Ijeoma Eze in Enugu state. The couple welcomed their son Lotanna Gabriel Ikeagwu in 2019.
