Dominique Thorne was born on 5th November 1997 in New York City. Her parents Nerissa Guy and Navie Guy are Trinidadian immigrants. She has two brothers, Ky-Mani and Caleb.
Thorne formally studied dramatic theater at Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan (PPAS). She attended Cornell University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Development with a minor in Inequality Studies. She graduated college in May 2019.
Career
Professionally Thorne made her feature film debut in 2018 as Sheila Hunt, the younger sister of the main character Fonny Hunt, in the movie If Beale Street Could Talk. The movie was based on James Baldwin’s novel of the same title. In 2021 she portrayed the character of Judy Harmon, a member of the Black Panthers, in the movie Judas and the Black Messiah.
In 2020, Thorne was cast as the Marvel Comics superhero Riri Williams and Ironheart in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ television series Ironheart. Her debut in that role will be made in the 2022 feature film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
